Thanksgiving Sandwich with Butter Sauce Base and White American Cheese

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups | Land O Lakes® Butter Sauce Base
  • 1/8 teaspoon | Poultry seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons | Turkey gravy base
  •  
  • Stuffing Ingredients
  • 2 pounds | Bulk ground pork sausage
  • 1 1/4 pounds | Land O Lakes® Butter
  • 2 cups | Onions, minced
  • 2 cups | Celery, minced
  • 5 tablespoons | Parsley, fresh, finely chopped
  • 4 teaspoons | Ground sage
  • 3 teaspoons | Salt
  • 2 teaspoons | Black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon | Ground rosemary
  • 1/8 teaspoon | Ground savory
  • 1/8 teaspoon | Ground thyme
  • Pinch | Ground nutmeg
  • 4 cups | Frozen Whole cranberries, rough chopped in food processor
  • 14 ounces | Whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 17 to 18 cups | Fresh bread crumbs

  • 3 (8x12-inch) squares | Focaccia bread , sliced in half
  • 6 pounds | Sliced turkey
  • 24 slices ( 1/2-ounce) | LAND O LAKES® White American Cheese

Preparation

STEP 1

Bring Butter Sauce Base to a boil; add seasoning and gravy base. Mix thoroughly. Chill until ready to assemble sandwiches.

STEP 2

Sauté ground sausage, onions and celery in butter. Cook until onions are transparent. Add parsley and dry seasonings; mix well. Add chopped cranberries and cranberry sauce; mix well. Remove from heat; add bread crumbs. Mix until stuffing consistency. Do Not Overmix.  Divide stuffing in thirds.

STEP 3

On a half sheet tray that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray, shape each portion of stuffing into a 1/2-inch thick, 8x12-inch rectangle (same as focaccia). Bake in a 350°F conventional oven for 10 minutes.  Cool and refrigerate.

STEP 4

For each Panini, spread 1/3 of butter spread on both cut sides of focaccia.  Layer each with 2 pounds of turkey, 1 portion of stuffing and 8 slices of American Cheese.

STEP 5

Press in Panini machine.  Cut each sandwich into 8 portions.
