Macaroni and Cheese with Italian Blend Cheese Product and Italian Sausage

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 pounds | Land O Lakes® Italian Blend Cheese Product shredded , divided
  • 1 1/2 cups | Water
  • 12 ounces | Elbow macaroni or cavatappi
  • 4 ounces | Green bell pepper, rough-chopped
  • 8 ounces | Red bell pepper, rough-chopped
  • 8 ounces | Onion, rough-chopped
  • 2 ounces | Olive oil
  • To taste | Kosher salt
  • To taste | Pepper
  • 8 ounces | Sweet Italian sausage , cooked, crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon | Italian seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon | Red pepper flakes

Preparation

STEP 1

In saucepan combine 1 1/2 pounds Italian Blend Cheese and water. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until cheese is melted. Cook pasta according to package directions, drain.

STEP 2

Toss peppers and onion with olive oil, salt and pepper. Roast at 425°F until beginning to brown but still remain bright in color.

STEP 3

Combine cheese sauce, pasta, sausage and roasted vegetables. Turn into a half hotel pan that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake, covered, at 350°F for 30 minutes. Uncover, top with remaining 4 ounces cheese. Bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes until cheese is melted.
